I loved Red -- he was not only funny, but a very good and sweet man.

I'd forgotten about the pledge speech. It is something that we should think about often. I usually read the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth, before the partying begins (I especially love the part where we slam King George and list all of the crap he was pulling). Maybe this year I'll read this instead.
