Question. When they auction of these "Preserved" farms, is there a stipulation that they must STAY "preserved" farms?

Now that the Secretary of Agriculture has resigned and Jackson of the NJDEP fame has moved to Chief of Staff, and no one is really watching out for us, will these "preserved" farms end up having houses built on them?

Yes they must be farmed and one house only can be built and one occupant at the home must work farm.

I was interested to buy one and plant timber but that is not allowed. Nursery stock would be.

I always wondered why timber wasn't allowed. Do you know the reason? It seems to me that preserving land is preserving land -- no matter what you're growing on it.

Thanks njriverman. Glad to hear that these rules are in place to preserve our farmland. I really don't mind using tax dollars to preserve these farms to be used for farming. Don't understand that timber business either. My gripe is the taxpayer money buying up contaminated land at HIGH prices to get the players out of cleaning land at BIG profits. And then flipping them over to the County for more money as Parks.

Thanks again for the explanation.
