Is it illegal to shoot a 22 in my backyard at a stump. I never thought much of it till one of my neighbors came out of there house and yelled illegal at me. If someone hypothetically called the cops what would happen.

Hypothetically I'm sure they would just explain the law to you and maybe give a warning. I think you may be able to shoot a 22 into a stump or into one of those large hay walls -- if you live on a super-large lot, and if you're so many feet from the next house, but I'm not sure.

Don't miss - a .22 bullet can travel upwards of a mile. I'd suggest going to a shooting range if you have neighbors that are close by.

If you fire the thing at an upward angle; therefore compensating for the drop off that begins at 100 yards, yes it can go a mile.

Depending on the barrel, it will drop off before 100 yards. Oh yea, definitely.

Know a good firing range when you need one. Lots of Great People that go there. My Whole Family goes there to practice our Second Amendment safety. In fact my Better Half is a Range Safety.

Shouldn't fire near homes. Not cool. But if you were facing the woods, you would probably get a warning. But if you were in a development, see ya!

Good sport.... Target Shooting. My Better Half and My Son both participate in IDPA Self Defense, Home Defense and Close Combat. My Son is even qualified. Imagine That.

I know this will upset a lot of People, all the Nancy Pelosi Liberal Wheenie Loser Democrats by saying this, BUT I feel all children should have some kind of contact with a firearms THROUGH INSTRUCTIONAL ONLY at least once through their School experience. Possibly HS Sophomore. Hey I think they still have archery don't they?

Do you know of any skeet shooting ranges around here?

That's usually NRA certified. You need a large area of no-contact to do this. It's usually in Pennsylvania, out towards Lehigh Valley. There is a lot of area there that is not habitated. These skeets shoots are pretty neat. Some of these guys are really good. I mean they can squeeze them off and bring down those targets. It's amazing to watch. Hand and eye coordination is A++ level.

I once had to go to The Homestead in Virginia for business, and needed to choose two activities. I chose falconry and skeet shooting. I had never even handled a shotgun before.

The teacher there was so good that within a half-hour I was hitting virtually all of the targets. Granted it was a "baby" shotgun (450??? something like that). But I had a ball! Up on a mountaintop, nothing but us -- and a fabulous teacher to boot!
