Christie moves toward more GOOD cuts

We don't need a tv station. Time to cut that patronage pit.

Good for you Christie. I won't worry about what happens after you let them loose. Who cares. We don't need a tv station. We have two very large cities at our borders that provide good coverage.

Look at the money you will save just in FCC contracts.

Gov. Christie has submitted legislation that would end the state’s role in the television and radio business. It would bring to a close the state’s four decades of support for NJN. A press release said the administration wants to make sure the “successor to NJN can fulfill the responsibilities of maintaining a New Jersey-focused public broadcasting operation.” NJN has won praise and criticism for the way it handles New Jersey news involving politicians. Stations in Philly and New York don’t give Trenton news a lot of air time. NJN does. The critics maintain the station doesn’t offer objective coverage but is biased, especially when it comes to Michael Aron and progressive Democrats. An example that keeps coming up is how Aron talked to former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice Deborah Poritz, who was in the south of France at the time, about Gov. Christie’s not renominating John Wallace for the bench. It came off to critics as elitist and arrogant.

The news department at NJN, which has some good reporters, probably would like to see the link to the state cut because of those perceptions that it is nothing more than a tool of whatever administration is in power.

These are tough economic times and the next budget will be harder than the current one. It’s not a lot of money as state budgets goes, but NJN has some powerful enemies and an audience that is relatively small for a state with 8.5 million residents. Other public stations exist without unionized employees being on the state payroll with state benefits and NJN can too.

Yea right, the man who signed McGreevey's budget without even reading it. Looked just like Brett Schundler looks now when he was questioned by the Seniors. He said, "Oh I didn't read it, I just signed it."

And this guy has the brass to question now? He wants answers?

Answers about what Sweeney? Or are you just upset that your Dem Lite got caught with your best Buddies NJEA's plan to oust Christie and make him look bad?

You are pathetic Sweeney.

Sweeney Statement On Schundler

Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney released the following statement upon learning that Governor Christie had fired state Education Commissioner Bret Schundler:

“Two days ago, Governor Christie said this was his responsibility. Then he said it was all President Obama’s fault. Apparently, he’s now decided it’s Bret Schundler’s fault.

“If the Governor thinks making Commissioner Schundler go away will make the many, many questions about how the state blew its $400 million chance go away with him, he’s wrong.”

No corruption? Politicians doing their job? Really?

So you are going to allow the kickback kings to continue raping the people of their hard earned tax dollars so these BULLIES can get their pensions and their perks and keep their campaign promises to their campaign donors and hacks?

Oh this is OK. So we are worried about terrorism? How can you say that when you are not even ready to prosecute any of them? And if you haven't heard yet, the Obama Administration doesn't want any prosecution of terrorists or anyone else unless they belong to the Tea Party?

This is a joke. This guy has to be on some muscle relaxer or something. With all the corruption charges out there (44 I believe) and you know just as well as I do that there is more out there, this Obama appointment is in the same "dream state" that his leader is under.

What justice.

 Daily Muse: WHAT'S REALLY DEMORALIZING

Aug. 24, 2010

So if Bob Ingle was hoping to write a sequel to “The Soprano State,” well, he’d best not look to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for help.

In what can best be described as a surprising interview, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman let it be known that public corruption isn’t his top concern.

Instead, he said his top priorities were "public safety, or terrorism" prosecutions.

And he told the Ledger this:

The chief federal prosecutor in New Jersey doesn’t endorse the idea he works in the "most corrupt" state in the union — and says such talk can be "demoralizing" to the people who live here.

"I don’t know how you can make that kind of comparison,’’ said Paul Fishman who, last October, was named to replace Christopher Christie as the United States Attorney. "I don’t happen to believe that to be true."

That’s nice, Mr. Fishman. But this isn’t Iowa or Kansas -- we live in New Jersey. And we know exactly what we’ve got here.

After all, there is a reason why “The Sopranos” was set in Jersey. And why “The Soprano State” was a best seller. And why “The Jersey Sting” likely will be too.

Like there is a reason why undercover FBI agents were able to walk through a League of Municipalities convention and catch so many fish.

Just like salmon swim upstream, in New Jersey, some politicians go up the river.

It is the natural order of things.

Fishman was apparently reacting to quotes made last July after 44 people were arrested in a corruption investigation. (The same one that led to the new book, “The Jersey Sting.”)

As the Ledger reminds us, "at that time, Ed Kahrer, the FBI agent in charge of the office’s public corruption unit, told a press conference, 'New Jersey’s corruption problem is one of the worst, if not the worst, in the nation.’
Ralph Marra, then the acting U.S. Attorney, at the same press conference, said honest people didn’t have a chance ‘in this culture of corruption.’"

But fear not, New Jersey. It isn’t as bad as we thought.

In an interview, Fishman said he believed the "vast, vast, vast majority" of public officials are "hard-working and don’t get enough credit for what they do.’’ He added, "It is demoralizing to the citizenry of any jurisdiction for them to think they live in a corrupt state.’’

Demoralizing, or – as our governor likes to say – honest and refreshing?

Listen, what’s demoralizing is not to think you live in a corrupt state; it’s to live in a corrupt state and think no one is doing anything about it. To think that the politicians are getting away with it.

That’s demoralizing.

And at least, when the politicians were being rounded up every other week, we the public had a sense that the bad guys were on the run. That the good guys were just one wiretap away from throwing the bums in jail.

If there’s anything any one knows about New Jersey, it’s that we know human nature. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Heck, turn on any Jersey-based reality TV show and you’ll see what we mean.

And we probably don’t have more corruption than any other state. We’re just more upfront about it.

Blunt, even.

And we’re blunt enough to know that unless some politicians are worried about the U.S. Attorney’s Office listening in, they’ll just go back to the old way of doing business.

Now that’s demoralizing.

Don’t get us wrong – of course terrorism is important. Of course it has to be a priority. But it almost sounds like the U.S. attorney doesn’t want to focus on public corruption cases so as not to upset the zeitgeist of the Jersey citizenry.

Trust us, U.S. Attorney Fishman – we can handle it.

So yes, focus on terrorism – but don’t forget about public corruption.

As we recall, there was a couple of terrorism cases during Chris Christie’s reign, too.

And once again, we have been reminded that leadership stems from the top.

And if there is one thing we have learned during the last seven months, there’s no doubt that Christie – love him or hate him – is a leader.

So we guess that the state attorney general will take the lead on public corruption cases, if the U.S. attorney won’t.

Sounds just like old times – only this time, in reverse.

Hey Bob, confused about the split in the Republican Party?

Don't be. It's a norm. Christie needed the other side of the Republicans (Democrat Lite) so he got Schundler on board as Head of the Education.

This shows the games played by both parties. There really isn't any Democrat or Republican in New Jersey. They are names only fighting for control.

Will we get answers? Of course not. Both parties are involved in the coverups and the deals behind closed doors. It's all about elections and getting split parties together to counteract each.

So a Dem Lite got caught playing games and trying to make the Republican he made campaign promises with look bad.

This is a common. The first time Schundler showed his Dem Lite, Christie should have shown him the door. Campaign promises should not have been even thought of. Christie was already in office. Dem do this all the time.

So Bob, your shock that this occurred and your friend Schundler flipped is funny. By November Schundler will be a Dem. Oh boy, another fly swatter.

Come on Bob, you wrote the book. You should know the politics. Or is it you just don't want to reveal that Republican Split of Republican and Dem Lite. I live in Camden County all the time. I think they hatch them here.

Christie showing Integrity

That's right, you people aren't used to this. First of all, the rush was put on because the NJEA didn't want their teachers evaluated. You know why? There is not a teacher in this State that could get a job outside this State because they do not have the right credentials.

If NJEA had gotten the money, do you really think it would have gone to the classroom? Of course not. It would have gone to the NJEA Election Committee for November's election. It's happened before. Remember we have no dedicated funds. We have a general fund.

And I would like to know who proofed it before it went to Washington, and who proofed it in Washington. Washington is just as at fault for not letting Governor Christie know about error.

Just think if Comrade Corzine was in office. Hell Obama would have brought the check personally and we would have had a nice rally, nice parade, and the mantra of "Its for the Children". The children wouldn't see any of it, but its for them.

Governor Christie, hey to err is human. But at least you are not trying to cover it up like the Democrats would. You still got my vote.

Schundler shows his true colors again: Playing Both Sides

Bret Schundler's launch for his campaign for Governor, now that he's backed by the NJEA will be, "No mistakes will be made. The Children will get their money."

Or should I say the NJEA Union will get the money.

Boy when this was first brought up and it had attachments to teacher performance, NJEA didn't want it. Now they want because Schundler made sure it was lost to make Christie's Administration look bad and look like it hates teachers.

Good Job Schundler. Nice proof reading. Don't think this little stunt will endow your next Governor race. I'll remember.

But this good anyway. The NJEA would only take the money and piss it up against the wall or use it for politics like they always do.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Failure to follow directions may have prevented New Jersey from winning a $400 million federal education grant.

Scoring documents from the Race to the Top grant competition show New Jersey received no points on one section because the state provided budget figures for 2010 and 2011 while the application asked for numbers from 2008 and 2009.

The section was worth 4.8 points on the 500-point scoring chart.

Ohio, the lowest-scoring state to be awarded the sought-after grant on Tuesday, got just three points more than New Jersey.

The gaffe was first reported by the Star-Ledger of Newark.

State Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver called it "a stunning mistake that is going to hurt New Jersey's children."

No More Nice Guys

I like it. Someone with integrity and brass in pocket. It's about time New Jersey stops voting for the nice guy but the guy who will do the right thing for ALL people. Not just George Norcross, Lesniak, Codey, Sweeney etc.

Keep going Christie. Keep your eye on the money from the Feds. I don't think it's going to work. I figure the way it appears with you stating your administration is going to watch this money. Obama will not take that chance. This is re-election whether anyone else wants to admit it or not.

And I held my nose to vote for you. I wasn't sure but we need leadership. And it appears you are successfully proving that. Now come down to Camden County and show your party what it's all about. Because the only one that has a clue is Assemblyman DiCicco and I didn't vote for him. But I like what he's doing.

TIME TO PLAY! TIME TO BE VERY PREPARED!

COME ON NOVEMBER!

Stubborn. Independent. Smart. About 40 percent of New Jerseyans think those words fit Gov. Christie. A Rutgers-Eagleton Poll indicates given a set of four positive and four negative character traits, slightly more voters say the positive traits describe Christie very well. David Redlawski, director of the poll, said, “Many who say he isn’t doing a good job, describe him in positive terms.” Thirty-nine percent in the poll say he is doing a good job, but 33 percent say he is doing a fair job and 25 percent rate him poor. The big issue in the minds of the people? The state budget, not surprisingly, most strongly influences attitudes toward Christie – 63 percent of voters think more could have been done to alleviate program cuts and 30 percent say they support the budget as passed.

You Donald, go talk to your Brother George about the Waste and Lack of Ethics

You and Paul are perfect together. Get a room.

All this fluff bullshit for election time and the bill, which the taxpayers will pay for, will never be enacted.

Just look at your Ethics Board. Where the hell are they? It's ok for a Senator to look at kiddie porn. It's ok for 44 indictments that have gone no where.

Oh and there was just enough to edit the e-mails.

Why don't you demand your brother to turn over the Palmyra Tapes? Why don't you demand your brother to come clean with his Medicaid fraud that was monitored through UMDNJ?

We already know that your brother put pressure on Rutgers to drop it's bid on the medical marijuana system because he wants POOPER/UMDNJ to control it all. That's what your brother wants to build in Gloucester Twp.

So before you talk about ethics or waste spending, look towards Camden County.

And people will be looking towards November.

TIME TO PLAY! TIME TO BE VERY PREPARED!

COME ON NOVEMBER!

Sweeney: Governor Christie honor law you signed?

Oh but it's OK for your group to not honor or be accountable for the oath you took and what you signed. How about that borrow and spend through the Supreme Court that you rely on so much and is going away?

How about all the laws signed but enacted? How about ethics and promise you and Corzine made to the people?

How about the wasteful mismanagement of $9 Billion Dollars created by your State Construction Corporation? Another pile of losers which you allowed to walk away.

I can keep going.

Get a life. November's coming. Time to clean house. I think the people have finally just had enough. We need to do something because this government is not taking into consideration it's people. It's only considering IT's pocketbook.

Sweeney, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Or furniture for that matter. Sweeney, you are just another Norcross puppet.

If you applied a quarter of the energy that you use to try to make it look like you are not a Norcross minion and applied that to the people's concerns and issues, we wouldn't be in this mess.
