Default Joe Roberts Nuts?

The proposal from Joe Roberts exemplifies what is wrong with govenment today. "Let's do away with allowing the local citizen to cast a vote in favor of or against local school budgets". Take away a rare measure of oversight and control from the general public and rely on good ol' government to handle the details.

Creates too much problems for us, does it Joe? Allows too much public voice in the decisions of elected officials to tax and spend public coin, doesn't it?

How about you pass a law that puts municipal, county and state budgets on the ballot for citizen approval? Let the citizens send back your proposed spending plan to your desk until you come up with a budget that fits our needs and wants, rather than force it down upon us.

I won't hold my breath.....

Now that is an idea. The local school board budget has more restrictions that a bunch of hungry pithons. However, let the public vote on municipal or county taxes. THAT should be interseting!!!

Good plan OilPig! Let's vote on the Municipal budget, the County budget, and the State budget. No problem, I'll show up and vote weekly, doesn't matter to me.

When we vote down a school budget, they can go back to the drawing board, and come up with a new budget. Then we vote again... and again... and again until it passes. They did that where I used to live.

While we are at it, lets' close the State Department of education and send the money budgeted for them, starting this year, to the township schools to pay for teaching students. We can reduce the local school property taxes by the amount saved. I know, I know, it's a radical concept... the students don't make campaign contributions the way unions do.

Might as well change the formula so that urban schools don't get favoritism when it comes to receiving state aid.
