MarketWatch Financial crisis gives Obama big boost: poll
Quote:
Barack Obama is enjoying a big lead over John McCain in the latest Washington Post-ABC News national poll as the financial crisis breathes new life into the Illinois Democrat’s campaign.
Obama is up by 9 percentage points in the poll, leading McCain 52% to 43%. Obama has a double-digit advantage when it comes to handling problems on Wall Street, the poll found. Respondents also had an extremely dim view of the U.S. economy: just 9% of those surveyed rated the economy as good or excellent. Only 14% said the country is heading in the right direction.
The poll was taken Friday through Monday.
Obama isn’t faring as well in other polls, although he is still in the lead. In the latest RealClearPolitics average, for example, he’s up by 3.2 percentage points. In Wednesday’s Rasmussen Reports poll, Obama leads McCain by two percentage points.
